Goa is land of the natural gifted it has several natural
beaches, temples, churches and wildlife sanctuaries. Goa state has total four
most popular wildlife sanctuaries.
Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary: Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National
Park is located in Sanguem taluk, south Goa district. It was established in
1978. It is spread in 240 square kilometers area land. It is 57 kilometers from
Panaji city.
Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary: It is located on the Chorao Island which along
with the Mandovi river. It is spread in 440 acres area land. Sanctuary has different
types of birds like jack snipe, little bittern, black bittern, red knot and
pied avocet.
Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary: This sanctuary is located in
Ponda taluka in north Goa district. It is spread in 8 kilo meters square area
land. Sanctuary has diffent types of animals like Indian bison, peafowl, giant
squirrel, malabar and sambar deer etc.
Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary: This sanctuary is located in
Canacona Taluka, South Goa district. This sanctuary is also famous for tall
trees which heights up to 30 meters. Sanctuary is also famous for different
types of animals like slender loris, mouse deerm flying squirrel, antelope,
deer, malabar trogon and draco etc.
