Goa is only two district state which smallest state of the
India country. Goa state has 67% Hindu and 24% Christian religion people. Goa state was colony of the Portuguese from
1510 to 1961. So Goa state has lots of churches and temples. Goa state also is
famous for its hundreds years old temples. Its some most important temples are Mahadev
Temple, Tambdi Surla, Mangueshi Temple, Mandodari temple, Vijaydurga temple,
Vimleshwar temple, Shree Mahalasa, Shree Betal temple, Kamakshi temple,
Parshuram Temple and Bhagvati temple.
Mahadev Temple, Tambdi Surla: It is an oldest temple of the
Goa state which was built in 12th century by Hemdari which was minister of the
King Ramachandra. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. It is located near of
the Tambdi Surla in Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park. It is
just 65 kilometers far from Panaji city capital of the state in south Goa
district. This temple was survived from invader of the Portuguese because it
located in remote forest area. Daily several people come visit it from all over
world.
Mangueshi Temple: Shri
Mangeshi temple is placed in Mangeshi village in Ponda taluk, north Goa district
which is just 21 kilometers far from Panaji capital city. Temple is dedicated
to Lord Shiva. Orilnal temple was destroyed by Portuguese in 1543 which was
located in Kushasthali Cortalim village. New present teple is built by Maratha
ruler in 1890 at Mangeshi village.
