Goa Historical Places Tour Destination




Goa has lots of historical places like churches, forts and temples which includes 400 churches to 800 years old temple. Generally, Goa is most famous for churches because approx 450 years rules by Portuguese rulers. So, state has lots of churches along with temples.  

Churches: Goa state has several churches but mostly famous churches are located at Old (Velha) Goa. Basilica of Bom Jesus church: it is a UNESCO heritage site listed church located at Velha Goa. Se’ Cathedral church: It is also located velha Goa. Chapel of St. Cajetan, Church and Convent of St. Francis Assisi, Chapel of St. Catherine, Church of Lady of Rosary and Portal remains of St.Paul’s College.

Temples: Goa state has approx 137 temples most famous temples. Mahadev Temple, Tambdi Surla is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was constructed in 12th century by King Ramachandra. It is located in region of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.

Shri Mangeshi Temple:  It is one most famous temple of the Goa. It was originally constructed in 1543 but Portuguese destroyed it in 1560. Again it was constructed in 1739.

Forts: State has four most famous forts. One fort is used as the house of the Governor and second fort is used as heritage hotel by a company. Other two hotels are only ruin places.
